Photo Text

1. What do i like most about my series photos?
The first thing that i like most about my pictures is the difference in colour of all three,  the first the colours are all very dark and neutral feeling, the second being very bright colourful, but with black and white to make it all "pop". And in the 3rd i really like the variants of blues. I also really like, in the third, the feeling it gives of time passing with the radial blur I used along with the clocks. Something that i really like about the second one is all the bright colours! and the yellow band that crosses over his legs. My favourite thing about the first one is the repetition of the person, i had originally had the people fading, but i made them visible and I just liked how that looked so much more.

2.What do i like least about my series photos?
In my second photo the orange words did not bend to the band like i thought it had, i do not like how that looks. In my third photo, i had not realized this in photoshop, but around the person i had cut out my feathering apparently did not work well because i can see little light blue specs that I don't like. and in the first one i do think that the smallest person looks too small. One last thing that i do not like about my series of photos is the high contrast in the second one, because of how i did it i am guessing, the contrast looks like it increased more once i save it, though i still looks cool, i wish is was a little lower in contrast.

3.Which photo was the most successful, overall, of the 3? Why?
I think that first one was the most successful in looks, with not any photoshop mistakes as there are in the others, but my favourite is the third and in creativity and how much i like it i think that is was the most successful. In the third one, there was only one problem with the cutting, but i think that lighting with that focus on him and the radial blur focusing the attention on him, but then you are then drawn to the text that is wrapped around the clocks. The clue gradient map i used to help with the blue colour i think just made it better and more exciting to look at rather than the originals dull colours. I am very pleased with the final results of this one.

Art Movie Reflection

What I like?
What i really like about my video is the tension that i tried to build with the shocked faces and the thermometer , but still the silly and cuteness of the girls dancing and singing. Another thing that I like is the steam at the ending, that is like the thermometer break at the end. I also like the very scared man at teh end like something is about to attack him. One last thing that i like about my video is the carried out long note near the end that drags out the tension build.
What I like least?
What i dont like about my video is the sound at parts, i think that it could be bolder and better. or more dramatic even, maybe a big bang near the end. Something else that i do not like about this piece is the creepy old man that like striaghtens up near the middle, i wanted another scared person and he was the only option. I think that he looks too out of place and not right in it.
Why is this an art movie?
This is the art movie because of the different fliters and everything that makes it feel different than a normal movie, its more creative and spontanious than most films. It also has a fairly open ending that leaves the audience wondering what happened to cause this, this is an aspect of art movies.

Pan's Labyrinth

What are 3 things that can make this movie be considered an art movie?
One thing that makes this an art movie is the high amount of very realistic, insane and weird characters that were literally out of this world. A second thing that makes this an art movie is the high amount of crazy imaginative different things that normally most people wouldn't even be able to presive how they came up with. And a third thing that makes this an art movie this is has an open ending, you can asume your own ending.

How is this movie perhaps more creative that most mainstream movies?
Most mainstream movies are less crazy and out there, they are simply and don't fully challenge what is said to be normal for movies. This movie is completely creative and yet historical and so interesting. Main

Did you like or dislike this movie overall? Fully Explain.
For what I saw, I really enjoyed this movie. The story line was very interesting, the different, creepy and creative creatures are really what interested me most, the animations were insanely good and i really liked the mouth part where his was cut, it was disgusting, but awesome how they did it.

Money tree

MISS GEORGE!
I struggled so much to get even this much painting done!
I tried on THREE computers and it wouldn't work or cooperate with me!
It too me an hour and a half to get this much ;
I'm sorry but i don't think its going to get better, i want it to be better just the program or computers aren't working with me!
I tried everyday this weekend , and I'm thankful for screen shot or i wouldn't have got this cause the 'save a picture thing wouldn't work either.
I tried to touch up the painting in photo shop.. But didn't really work well..
I'm not there on Monday because i have a dentist appointment at 2:15 and have to walk there! But I'm here on Tuesday!

Utopian Invention Design

1. Give reasons for why you think Da Vinci invented the inventions on the reverse of this sheet.
I think that Da Vinci was a very creative dreamer. I bet that he had many ideas that no one knows about yet. I think that he drew these inventions because they were things that he wanted to be able to experience, like flying. Whether by air plane or from falling and being caught by a parachute. Or his under water contraptions to be able to move freely. Or he just wanted to see what could be done and think of the unthinkable at the time and invent crazy things that would advance the world.

2. Choose one of DaVinci’s inventions, and explain why you think it has had the biggest impact on modern society.
Out of the pictures on the page, I think that the one that had the biggest impact on society is the idea of the airplane. Today, though the design is much different than the one he has drawn here with the screw propeller, the idea has advanced and now we have people flying every day all over the world at all times. Without airplanes, our world would be much different than it is now. People wouldn't be able to move from country to country as easily, we wouldn't be able to get to the other side of the world in a matter of days or a matter of hours. The invention of the airplane has advanced and changed our society so much.

My Ideas:
Money Tree- A tree that grows money for the owners use.
Cloth Folding Washer & Dryer- A machine that washes, drys and then when its done it differentiates and folds your clothing properly for you so you just have to grab it and put it in your drawers, instead of having to move from machine to machine and then fold as well.
Lanuage to Language Voice translator- a machine that takes a voice in a different language and changes it to a language in which the operator understands

BrightOwl

What I like about my piece is the tree, i absolutely love how it looks. I think that the different shades of brown  make it look realistic and the different grains make it good looking. I also like the eyes of the owl, i think they turn out great and are the best part of the owl. Another think i like is the moon, the soft look of it just makes it so the owl gets more attention. Though i really struggled with the wings i have to say i like the right one quite a bit more than i do the left. I really like all the tones and shades in the whole picture in general. Also, i love the texture on the feathers in the body. One last thing that I like is the over lapping of some of the branches towards the bottom, I think that it just adds more dimension to my art.
What i don't like about my piece is the owl. But more specifically the left wing that the tail. I don't know why, but i just don't like the look of them, i think that they could have been improved. Another thing that i don't like is the lightness of the owl, i think that i should have made it darker and added even more tone to him. Something else that i don't like is the top tree branches how they have a bit of a white/light outline on them, i think that this makes them look out of place almost I didn't notice them though until i posted it here. A last thing that i don't like is the area around the claws, I think that i should have made them a little less fuzzy looking and added more of a feather texture to them.
This is art because it has all the different aspects that make things art. It has tone, texture, colour, hightlights, etc.. Art isn't always just categorized by being something done on paper or canvas, the computer file was my canvas. Painting this on the computer would be the same as if i painted it on a canvas with paint. Art is creativity and expression and doing it on the computer is just another way of expression. Art doesn't have to be physical like on paper. That is why this computer painting is art, just because its on the computer doesn't mean it isn't art, blending and colours are still used.

My Version of Barbara Kruger's Work

What do you see in your piece of art (describe it)?

In this piece I see two girls gossiping to one another. They look very happy and excited about the news they are sharing, forgetting that they are probably hurting the persons feelings that are whispering to each other about. There is also a girl in the corner who is sad, to make the effect of the message stronger. The word "whisper" in "Where's the truth in your whispers?" is red to make it stand out more and to emphasize it and making it apart and making the message better.

What kind of message did you try to give in this piece of art?

In this piece of art, I tried to send a message that hits close to home with a lot, the hurt that comes with gossiping, or being gossiped about. I used the sentence "Where's the truth in your whispers?", basically trying to say if you don't know 100% that the information is true or if you think that there is a slight chance that it would hurt the person, just don't say anything at all. Also, I thought that I would choose girls because gossiping, generally, is more apparent with girls and more common that with boys. Bottom line, gossip hurts people.

Do you like or dislike this piece of art?  Why?
I actually really like this piece, for just a couple of reasons. I really like the picture of the girls and the expressions on their faces. I also really like the positioning of the words that the whisper is in between their mouths as though they were saying it. And I just really like the message I've sent with it, gossiping is one of the most common things talked about  with people and it hurts, so I thought that it was a really good idea for a piece critiquing humans. I just really like Barbara's style, which is another reason I enjoyed this assignment and why I like my piece.

Barbara Kruger Assignment

What do you see in this piece of art (describe it)?

What I see in this piece is pain, annoyance and anger. The man is so tense, eyes squinted mouth pursed, hands over his ears and looks like he thinks that his head is going to explode if someone else tells him what to do. And the words are in a spiky conversation bubble making it exclaimed.

What kind of message is the artist giving in this piece of art?

The message I think that this picture is sending is that too many people try to think for others, especially when some want to make their own choices. This message is sending those control freaks a message of back off and let people think for themselves.

Do you like or dislike Kruger's work? Why?
I actually think that he work is quite inspirational, especially this piece. The fact that she is willing to almost bluntly criticize so many types of people is awesome. Usually people hide and how she express' her concerns in the world is amazing. I also like the colours she chose in her pieces because the grey scale with the red is so eye drawing.

Alter Ego

What I like about my piece is how I put the leaning tower of pisa on an extreme, unrealistic angle. I also like how the lens flare is on my eye giving it a different kind of sparkle to my eye. Something also i like its the porcelain look to the unicorn, making it look more like a doll, though i put the unicorn in because I have the unrealistic dream of having a real one, making it look like a doll makes it seem more realistic. One last thing i like about my piece is the sky divers. I like how they are transparent and how the blend with the building, sky and tree, it just looks really cool.

What I dont like about my piece is how you can't see my smile. I think that my smile a big part of me, and not being about to see it makes this not really represent me, but because it is my alter ego it works well I guess. another thing i don't like in the silhouette of the man with the book on his head (representing mind reading), I just don't like how it looks and I'm not 100% sure why but i think it is  his stance i don't like. One last thing i do not really like about my piece is string on the books, I didn't really picture it looking like how it does, but i was having troubles finding a rope and I thought that one looked decent.

The message is gives the viewer is that i am a random person with some silly dreams, like owning an unicorn or being a mind reader or even that i love winter, which is represented by the whole scene, a lot of people think that it is silly of me to like winter, but I do. The viewer can also take that I am a risk taker from the bungee jumper and the skydivers. I think that the viewer can also figure out that i also want to travel to Italy by the leaning tower of Pisa. One last thing that I think that viewer can get from my picture is that I look forward to the future, they can see this from the arrows.
